Visual Design of the Healthcasts App

Healthcasts App Update

While we had significantly advanced the interactive products Healthcasts offers over the years, the overall app which contains them had remained largely unchanged.

It had been a goal of mine to not just update the look and feel of the app, but to completely redesign the user's experience, and to create a space where physicians can connect with their peers, share insights, and learn from one another.

A Playground

The Healthcasts experience up until this point had been an isolated one: Doctors watched expert interviews from conferences, engaged with interactive learning products, and gained certifications, but they did so in a silo'd environment.

The new app design leveraged social-network reinforcement to make the experience a deeper, more rewarding one: They'd be able to comment on an interview, share a favorite product with their peers, or message with a colleague they ran into at a conference.

The Student Becomes the Teacher

Healthcasts has a large amount of content from videos to interactive tools, but my goal for the new app was to have the doctors become content creators themselves. Whether it's posting an article they've just published, or uploading a video of an experimental procedure they're working on, the added social features facilitate a living community with fresh content and interactions created daily—Someplace worth spending time, because it's a rewarding, fun, and healthy experience.
